The Sidney Lanier Poetry Competition Award, sponsored by the Lanier Library, is open to poets from both North and South Carollina whose works have not previously been published in book form.  (read more)

March 16 - Brown Bag Lunch: "All about Hats" presented by Eleanor Rogers. The audience is encouraged to wear hats for the occasion and there will be a surprise visitor at the end of the program.

April 11 - Sidney Lanier Poetry Competition Awards Presentation: 2:00 p.m. in the Lanier Library. Refreshments will be served.

May 16 - Actress Barbara Smith will play in her off-broadway role of Ivy Rowe, the heroine in the novel by Lee Smith, "Fair and Tender Ladies." This program will be held in the Tryon Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
